Hybrid Device Combines In-Wall Touchscreen Controller With Control Processor for More Cost-Effective Setups
SHAKOPEE, Minn. — Oct. 26, 2015 —
Remote Technologies Incorporated (RTI), a leading control and automation manufacturer for residential and light commercial settings, today announced that the company is now shipping its unique KX3 3.5-inch in-wall touchpanel keypad. Ideal for installations in homes, classrooms, and conference rooms, the innovative device combines the capabilities of both an in-wall touchscreen interface and a control processor into a customizable unit that is powerful, cost-effective, and extremely easy to use.
“Our new KX3 in-wall controller is designed to give integrators amazing power and flexibility, while providing the user with an elegant, intuitive control interface,” said Brett Stokke, director of communications, RTI. “With audio intercom support and other advanced functionality, the KX3 will perform beautifully as part of a larger RTI control system, while commercial settings such as a classroom can take advantage of its built-in control processor for an incredible all-in-one solution.”
Allowing users to engage with their surroundings easily, RTI’s new KX3 in-wall touchpanel has a vivid 3.5-inch color touchscreen, a proximity sensor to wake up the unit as a user approaches, and room status LEDs to indicate a room’s availability for a meeting. Increased installation flexibility comes from a number of features including wired 10/100 Base-T Ethernet and wireless Ethernet capabilities for viewing video from network security cameras and performing remote programming updates. Also equipped with a control processor, future firmware updates will enable benefits such as direct two-way control via IP and RS-232, as well as an astronomical clock for time-based events and an embedded 2.4 GHz ZigBee® antenna for connectivity with RTI wireless remotes. Even more powerful features will come as part of these updates, including six voltage sense ports, four relays, and a camera to accommodate the integrated video intercom functionality.
